Luc Albinski

Luc Albinski is an investment professional, writer and second-generation descendant of Holocaust survivors. He is Executive Chairman of Vantage Capital, Africa’s longest-standing mezzanine debt investor, where he co-founded the mezzanine division in 2006. He also leads Vantage Best in Class, an education investment platform. Alongside his work in investment, he is actively involved in Holocaust remembrance and historical research, including collaborating on the publication of The Doctors of the Warsaw Ghetto and producing the theatre work Nobody Told Me, based on the life of his grandmother, Dr Halina Rotstein, a physician in the Warsaw Ghetto. He serves as President of the Katyn Foundation for Jewish Families, documenting the stories of Jewish officers murdered in the Katyn Forest and is founder and President of the Kutno Foundation – Jewish Families of Kutno and Friends, which preserves the history of Kutno’s Jewish community. He holds a degree in Economics and Finance from Sciences Po Paris, a BA in Philosophy from the University of London (Birkbeck College), and an MBA from INSEAD.

David Fine

David Fine was a Senior Partner in the London office of McKinsey & Company, where he worked for 29 years. He has held many leadership positions including the Global leader of the Public, Healthcare and Social Sectors. David has unparalleled experience in supporting governments, private sector leaders, as well as state owned enterprises in areas of strategy, change management, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of large-scale projects. He also supports government leaders and ministries on issues related to national and sector competitiveness, industrial growth, performance transformation, infrastructure, education, health and social development. David holds a PhD Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Michael Mervyn Katz

CHAIRMAN

Professor Michael Katz is the chairman of ENSafrica specialising in corporate and commercial law. Michael publishes numerous articles, chapters and papers on legal and fiscal topics, including co-authoring the Butterworths Company Law Precedents (4 Volumes) and South Africa’s contribution to the United Nation’s and Harvard University Corporate Law Tools Project. Michael is mentioned in Legal Periodicals as the leading South African Lawyer and highly recommended South Africa Lawyer in Tax, Mergers and Acquisitions and Competition Law. Michael holds LL.M Degree from Harvard Law School and LL.D (h.c) from the University of the Witwatersrand. He lectures in Company Law at the University of the Witwatersrand and sits on the Board of Governors at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Stephen Koseff

Stephen Koseff is the former chief executive officer of the Investec Group. He was with Investec for 39 years in various capacities and CEO from 1996 to 2018. In 2017, Stephen was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Commerce Degree by the University of the Witwatersrand. He is a former board member of Business Leadership South Africa and is the chairman of BidCorp Limited, Innovation Africa SA NPC, ArrowPoint Capital, EDT Trust, and co-chair of the Youth Employment Service (YES).

Avrom Krengel

Avrom Krengel is presently the Group Legal Counsel for Investec Bank. He was born and educated in Johannesburg, South Africa. Avrom completed a Commerce and Law degree at the University of the Witwatersrand. He joined the commercial law firm Edward Nathan in 1994 and was made a partner in 1998. Avrom has been involved in South African Jewish Communal affairs for almost 30 years.

David Munro

David Munro is a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) and a former senior banking executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience across Africa, the United Kingdom, and international markets. He previously served as Chief Executive of Corporate & Investment Banking at Standard Bank Group, overseeing operations across 28 countries, and later as Group CEO of Liberty Holdings. During his career, he led major strategic, governance and transformation initiatives within complex financial institutions. Since retiring from corporate life in 2023, he has focused on philanthropic and advisory work, including serving as Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Sabine Plattner African Charities and as a trustee of the King Edward Educational Trust. David advises family enterprises and mission-driven organisations on governance, succession, long-term capital stewardship and strategic clarity. He brings to boards deep experience in fiduciary oversight, financial discipline, stakeholder alignment and institutional integrity. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. 

Nicky Newton-King

Nicky Newton-King retired as the first female CEO of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange at the end of 2019. Nicky is a lawyer by training and is currently a non executive director of the Investec Group, the MTN Group and AngloGold Ashanti plc.  She is also a trustee of the Oppenheimer Memorial Trust and Chairs the Council of Stellenbosch University.

Rabbi Gideon Pogrund

Rabbi Gideon Pogrund is the founding director of the Centre for Business Ethics at the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS). He works with leaders across business, government, and civil society to address ethical and governance challenges through research and collaborative initiatives, including projects such as the Anti-Corruption Coalition and the Ethics Barometer for South African business. He has consulted widely with organisations including the JSE, FirstRand, Standard Bank, Anglo American and Google, and has collaborated with scholars from institutions such as Harvard Business School and the Wharton School. Rabbi Pogrund previously held senior rabbinic leadership roles in South Africa and is a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge. He completed his doctorate on organisational apology, which remains his primary research interest.

Innocent Rusagara

Dr Innocent Rusagara served the University of Rwanda for more than 15 years as a lecturer of applied mathematics, and he is now the Principal of Worldwide E-Learning Campus (WEC), an organisation he co-founded with more than 150 staff in remote technical support. He initiated and managed several projects from different funders like the Canadian Embassy through “Fond Canadien d’Initiative Local”, Rwanda TVET Board through Skills Development Fund (SDF), World Food Program through Food for work project. He facilitated professional trainings for RDB, Rwanda Polytechnic, University of Rwanda, Ministry of Education, MINICOM, BNR, Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA), CIMERWA, Inyange Industries, RPPA, MINECOFIN, Rwanda Public Service Commission, Rwanda Management Institute, MIFOTRA, Zigama CSS, INYANGE, UAP Insurance, Compassion International, etc.

Lynette Saltzman

Lynette Saltzman was born and grew up in Johannesburg. Together with her husband, Ivan, she qualified as a Pharmacist at the Wits Technikon. They opened their first pharmacy in the south of Johannesburg in 1978 and together built up the pharmacy chain Dis-Chem. She is the Managing Director of the group, as well as the founder of the Dis-Chem Foundation.

Glenn Silverman

Glenn Silverman entered the asset management (investment) industry in 1992, obtaining his CFA charter in 1995. He was appointed as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Investment Solutions in 1999, where he remained for 17 years, until resigning in 2015. On leaving IS, he has consulted for various companies in the broader financial services and investment industry, both within SA and Africa. In 2012, Glenn embarked on a series of trips, to visit and research the five BRICS countries. The project culminated in him co-authoring a book, entitled “HalfWay There”, in late 2014. In 2016 he was appointed as a trustee of the JHGC, and in 2019 as an (Associate) Professor of practice at the JBS. Glenn joined RisCura full-time as their Investment Strategist in July 2021. 

Barry Swartzberg

Barry Swartzberg is the Group Executive Director at Discovery Limited and a co-founder of the company. A qualified actuary, he graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand and is a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries (Edinburgh) and an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (Chicago). Over more than three decades at Discovery he has played a central role in shaping the organisation’s growth, including serving as CEO of Discovery Health and later as CEO of Vitality Global, where he led the international expansion of Discovery’s Shared-Value Insurance model. Barry currently leads strategy and business development for Discovery. He also chairs the Endeavor SA board, Discovery Green, renewable energy venture, and the Discovery Fund, an independent trust focused on strengthening the healthcare system. Outside of work, he is passionate about cycling and running and has completed the Abbott World Marathon Majors.

Glynn Zollmann

Glynn Zollmann grew up in Polokwane and is a graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand with a BCom in Marketing. While raising her children, she has served on School PTA’s, edited an annual community magazine and fundraised for various local charities. Her most recent charitable work was with the new Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre (JHGC). Glynn has become an active volunteer for the JHGC and in April 2015 formed part of the March of the Living delegation to Poland and Berlin.
