The Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre’s work is inspired by the courage and resilience of survivors from the Holocaust and the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. We are privileged to be able to work closely with these survivors, who not only regularly attend our events and volunteer at the Centre, but also share their often-harrowing testimonies with school groups and adult audiences. Visitors always express the profound impact of hearing these first-hand accounts.
Holocaust Survivor Group
Our Holocaust survivor group meets once a month, facilitated by dedicated staff and volunteers from the JHGC. These meetings offer social and educational services for survivors and their families. More generally, they provide a friendly platform to meet, talk and exchange ideas on a regular basis. Survivors of the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda Group
The group’s main purpose is to enable survivors of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda to meet and get to know one another, to feel strengthened and empowered as a group, and to revive hope for the future. Meetings take place several times a year, involving sharing personal stories, commemorations, talks from guest speakers, giving and recording testimonies, and giving testimonies to schools and other groups. We are also open to suggestions for activities, please contact info@jhbholocaust.co.za
